The Unity Project: March from City Hall to Sara Sims Park for a Ordinance Burning and Block Party !!!

Join us as we take part in a symbolic march retracing the steps of our community’s journey toward equality beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 24 at City Hall. Community members will march to Sara Sims Park for a powerful and communal act as we gather to burn the repealed ordinances listed below:
• City Ordinance 37, 1924 instituting segregation
• City Ordinance 47, 1924 widening the segregated area
• City Ordinance 136, 1933 establishing sundowner law
• City Ordinance 47, 1924 widening the segregated area
• City Ordinance 136, 1933 establishing sundowner law
The ordinances listed above will be repealed by the Boynton Beach City Commission at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20 at the City Commission Meeting.
Following the burning of the ordinances will be a community block party where food will be provided. Learn more at Boynton-Beach.org.
