Science For Seniors: Meet The Purple Martins – America’s Most Beloved Tenants: Green Cay Nature Center

March 8, 2024 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Purple Martins are one of North America’s most loved birds for many reasons; their chattering song, social antics, aerial acrobatics and insect-eating habits. Long ago, Native Americans hung up hollowed-out gourds to attract nesting Purple Martins. Today, they are dependent on the hospitality of human landlords for their survival in the East. No other species has its fate intertwined with humans as Purple Martins do. Learn about the life cycle of these long-distance migrants, their unique relationship with people and conservation efforts in Palm Beach County.
Guest presented by Shelly Rozenberg, Purple Martin Conservationist from Audubon Everglades.
Ages 50+. $5 per person (Reservations required, limit 50).
This series is designed for those age 50 and above who enjoy a wide variety of subjects. Programs presented by guest speakers.
